This is a real worldwide mural tour today. The padlock bin is really cool! I can’t figure out how they put it together.
I thought we might all need some fresh air… Tod bien, Rebe? Did you get your shots already?
Hi, all is well but no shots yet until April. Still waiting in line semi-patiently… Y uds.?
Patience is a good resort. We, surprisingly got our first shot last Sunday… yeah!
Excellent! Masked up and at home until April for us ( other than buying groceries).
I’ll be a regular visitor this time and just say I liked most the “Oh Brad” and the lion that ate the bus. There’s also something powerful in the night gown? left hanging out to dry.
Isabelle and Calendula have a special message: Liberte pour tous! Couldn’t agree more.
Thank you for the tour!
My pleasure my friend. That series by Will had great poetry and great drawing. I like Will’s work very much.
“Oh Brad” (title I put of course) is implressive. A tall building. This crossroads is amazing. All buildings are painted. A very nice job.
Oh how I wish art – in any shape or form – could save us!
It might. At this stage I will take anything. 🤣
Moi aussi.
A great selection of images!!
So, that’s where the padlocks went!! 😉
Yes, but don’t say anything, it’s supposed to be a secret. Oh. I just blew it, right? 😉
Shhhhh 😉
Another gem, Senor. I love your Street Photography. C’est chic indeed.
Very chic. Thank you for the trip down memory lane. I was in the US around that time. I even had a white suit. I didn’t play the piano though.
I missed the white suit but I did have a pair of white platform soled shoes. Cost me 5 quid!
Platform soled shoes? I just pictured you playing the guitar with a Dave Hill haircut:
https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=1VPmS1G2DG4&list=RDAMVM1VPmS1G2DG4
No quite! But I did have to duck a little when entering the staff room at work!
Some really strong street art you are showing us here! I find it really hard to decide on a favourite this time …
Then take them all.
A pity that the prowling cacomixtle was destroyed, but I think it happened before with a street art you had photographed. Good that a photo of it exists!
That is the fate of street art. I just saw new street art near the house. I’ll go check
You still continue to impress me with your discovery of creativity!!! The turtle mural is 1 of my favorites…the color mixture of blue, greens, and pink seem to just brighten the whole city though they are calm colors! It’s sad that the Cacomixtle mural, which is another one of my favorites, got knocked down just to open a garage smh…
I like to keep my eyes open. Lockdown has curbed my possibilities of travel or just walking around. One can find treasures everywhere. Calm colours now? Interesting. The greens and yellows here are nowhere near “calm”. But again it may be the Sun acting on the colours.
Yep. I was very sorry to see that mural go the other day. Such is life.
Yes, it’s terrible that it got knocked down especially after all the hard work the artist took to create the mural. For I agree it’s always good to keep your eyes open and stay open minded…for some reason, it seems like the Lockdown has allowed many to do that. It put us the position to appreciate life more and it freed our minds to think of creative outlets and possibilities!
It is the fate of street art. Maybe it adds to its power? Being ephemeral?
Creativity is an opportunity that I see most politicians blind to… Sigh…
Stay safe.
I definitely agree with you! Art is what paints this world with brushstrokes of color full of life! Thank you and you continue to stay safe as well! Best hopes always👍
A great gallery walk. I love Roy the most, and that nightie.
“Roy” is an hommage of course. I don’t know wether there is actually a painting of his like that. (need to explore Lichtenstein’s art)
That nightie is weird isn’t it? It has caught the eye of many.
Wait…they sent the Paris Love Locks to CANADA? Seriously? I brought my lock to Paris and it was sent all the way to Canada? OMG! Why would Canada want them? Sigh.
The art work is wonderful. Loved the post. Such excellent art from so many places. I can’t believe they destroyed that beautiful work for a garage door. Oh well. I wish they could have saved it. Truly enjoyed all the beautiful shots. Thank you and keep them coming. 🙂 Canada…wow.
Thank you Gigi. It’s always nice to put together a post like that. So many styles and places. Makes me feel I’m walking the streets of Bangkok, looking a t everything with my mouth open.
🔐
Always so wonderful to see.
Some very compelling images!! Yes, I listened to “Corrina, Corrina.” Definitely a voyage back in time. The title of your post immediately put a song in my head, but I couldn’t remember what it was. Lucky for me, there’s Google and YouTube, or it would have been bugging me all evening. “Le Freak” by Chic.
Yes, yes. Le Freak. Ark just posted the link below. Love that song, the style, the clothes. Another era. Did you listen/watch it?
I listened to a bit of it, and the whole song came flooding back.
Indeed. You probably danced to the song. 💃
Chair danced, perhaps. 😉
I’m looking for Gabriella …. the one that captures me most is the plea for coral protection, we have a similar problem with the Great Barrier Reef, it is slowly dying from pollution.
Coral is dying in many places. Pollution, unbalance in the ecosystems. Tourists who stand on the coral reef…
Gabriela is a favourite character of mine, one I’ve created in a few novels and stories. The Archangela Gabriela. (Some things were lost in translation).
Actually I did post a story where she (and a few others) appears. Maybe you’ve read it? It’s called “Doc”. I can send you the link if you like.
Yes, the link would be wonderful, thank you.
Here’s the link:
https://equinoxio21.wordpress.com/2016/05/03/doc/
But you’ve read it already. at least liked. What does a man of the cloth think of the story? (Why ‘cloth’? Why not a man of the fabric?) 😉
Take care
Many thanks indeed 🙂
Encore un beau voyage tout en couleur
Merci Brieuc
Pas de quoi Mélie. Le printemps est encore un peu loin dans le Nord. Autant partager les couleurs d’ici et d’ailleurs.
C’est bon! The turtle one is my fave 🙂
It’s a very good one. That bridge near Tulum was… perfect. So many great artists together in one spot. Todo bien contigo?
Muy bien aqui…y tu?
Ahí vamos. Nos vacunaron el Domingo. Algo es algo. Esperando el 2do shot en Abril.
Bueno!!!
Beauticious!
🙏🏻
A splendid, varied, collection
Thank you Derrick
As a whole, I appreciated street art, but some of these are rather bizarre.
Some can be. I try to select the pieces. Any one(s) in particular?
The one about Singapore, the nightgown one, the one at Métro Nationale, and the one at Tlalpan. All four are odd to me. I know they look tame, but the problem I have with them is why were they done. I don’t understand the point of them. I can figure out a reason for the other ones, even if my thinking is off.
Singapore is weird. Agree totally. Probably inspired by local myths. Tlalpan? Oh yes, the “calaveras”, the… walking skeletons. It’s a very important part of Mexican culture. Surprising at first, but I’m used to it now. The nightgown? I’ve seen other pieces form probably the same artist, there is always an eerie feeling ab out them. Now, Métro Nationale? À la Lichtenstein? I love Lichtenstein. If I had 30 million bucks I’d buy a Lichtenstein. 😉 He’s one of my favourite artists. Died a few years ago, this is a “copy” of course. His works always have an element of mystery. Like a sketch out of a comic strip.
Take care.
Stunningly beautiful , fun , and intriguing. thank you Dear Brian. Be Well! 🙏🏻🌹
Are you back from the island? 🌴
Merritt? I spend most weekends there, I will go back this Friday. I have a house there. yay!
Yay indeed. Enjoy the house and the island. We’re looking for a house soutn of Mexico city. Need to get out. 🙏🏻
That bad? Good luck 🍀 Brian. Be well and safe.
Thanks to the Cap’n and crew … I enjoyed the flight immensely! Some fascinating art here! Thanks, Brian!
My pleasure Jill. I hope you are well. We just got our first shot. it is a relief. Like the world is opening up again… Stay safe.
I love your trips. They go all over the place! This is such a colourful post, too. And dang… those Montreal ones, I have never seen!
Thank you Dale. I didn’t see them either, those are pics from a trip my eldest daughter Alex did in 2019, I think.
You have a good excuse not to have seen them… what’s mine? 🙂 I’ve got some investigating to do!!
They probably gone as street art goes. Plus, they were prints stuck on the wall.
You’re probably right. Replaced with something else, surely.
Look at that Lichtenstein. And that bin. Is that an installation?
The bin is Art. In the street. Maybe a wink at the padlocks that nearly tore down the Pont des Arts?
Happy equinox by the way!
That’s right. Thank you. It used to be the Equinox – and its tides – were very important in my life. Now, I’m a bit far from the sea so I forget. Thank you for reminding me. And by sheer coincidence my next post can be about the Equinox. Thanks for the reminder. Bon week-end Carol
Fabulous street art and I love the reused padlocks as a seat/bin.
I suspect for (in)direct observation that Canadians are very creative.
Great images! Love it all, although the À la Lichtenstein is my fave!
Me too. I just love Lichtenstein. If you ever hear a major work of his has been stolen somewhere, it might be me…
LOL!
It must be interesting for you, since you are so involved in Street art to look at other styles? I have found that there can be a lot of diversity in one place, but some themes or even styles can be very different form one country to the other.
(How’s Spring shaping up?)
Spring is good! I made an Art Gown – Spring Rhapsody! She’s beautiful!
‘She’? Interesting choice of pronoun. But understandable? Is it on your site? Hopping there now.
Très chic! The love bin is too funny. Those European countries always sending their trash to other places … tsk tsk
LOL. How have you been my friend?
Really well, thank you. Life is not incredibly exciting at the moment but things could be worse 🙂
Good attitude.
I love the love bin – must be a bit heavy lol….I wonder if the lion on the back of the bus has caused and road incidents after making drivers jump, especially at night (I think I’d be a bit spooked, it’s those eyes 👀).
I don’t think the love bin runs any risk of being stolen. The lion was a great surprise. Not an easy shot of course. Photography rule #N: never take a photograph riding in a car. (I often do though)
👀
Photos from inside a car – hit and miss, sometimes we get lucky like you did here 📸
We all need a bit of luck from time to time don’t we?
Cheers.
With those 👀 , I imagine you have a Mac. 😉
wish our streets were that beautifully decorated!
Is there no street art in India? How strange.
Another great collection, Brian. I love the ‘Lichtenstein’ especially, very imposing.
Very. I just can’t imagine how the artist does it – with scaffolding of course – to keep proportion and perspective.
